The Visitor Centre for the National Park celebrates its tenth anniversary and will mark the occasion by announcing a unique public art opportunity. Under the Per Cent for Art Scheme, the OPW will commission a new work in collaboration with National Parks & Wildlife Service of the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and Mayo County Council Arts Office. * Partial Trail Closure * We are currently carrying out some maintenance on the boardwalk near the café at the visitor centre. There will still be trail access from the front of the building up to the viewpoint on the hill. You will need to return along the same path rather than complete the loop. We hope you can bear with us until the work is complete.
Due to the status orange weather warning for storm Lorenzo, the visitor centre will close at 4p.m. today (3rd Oct.) to ensure that staff and visitors are safe for the duration of the weather warning. All trails will remain closed until 12 noon on October 4th. The National Park Visitor Centre will reopen at 12 noon on the 4th Oct. to faciltate safety checks.
